API documentation
Static JSON files, served over a CDN with CORS enabled. No key, no signup, no rate limit. Fetch them from a browser, a server or a build step.
Base URL
Two hosts serve the same files. Both send access-control-allow-origin: *.
raw.githubusercontent.com is authoritative and always current.
cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/NETO-DEV66/india-open-data@main is a
cached mirror with a one-year cache header — good for production, since it is
faster and takes load off GitHub.
Datasets
Pincode index
One row per pincode. Load this once to build a client-side search.
Pincode shards
Full post office records, sharded on the first two digits. A lookup needs exactly one file, which keeps the transfer small.
Bank directory
Every bank code with its display name, type and branch count.
IFSC shards
Branch records sharded on the first eight characters of the IFSC. Rows are
arrays; columns tells you the field order, which
keeps the payload roughly half the size of an object-per-row format.
Manifests
Each dataset ships a manifest with its source, licence, checksum, record counts and byte sizes. Use it to detect an update or to verify provenance.

Live playground
These requests run in your browser against the real files.
Enter a six-digit pincode or an eleven-character IFSC.
Tips
- Send
Accept-Encoding: gzip— the CDN compresses these files, and the index drops from 704 KB to about 84 KB. - Cache aggressively. Data changes at most once a month, and the manifest checksum tells you when it did.
- Prefer shards over the full files. A single pincode lookup is a few kilobytes instead of megabytes.
- Bundle the files in a mobile app for offline use — there is no runtime dependency at all.
Licence and attribution
The pincode dataset derives from the India Post directory snapshot published by bharat-post-dir (MIT). The IFSC dataset derives from razorpay/ifsc (MIT). Both upstream projects are credited in every manifest. Reuse the data under the same terms.
